Croatian representative in the semi-finals of the WTA Makarska Open! We support Petra Martić

Martić will play for the final tomorrow against Mayar Sherif at 18:30. Today, she celebrated in a marathon match against the Australian Joint.

A new day, new excitement at the WTA tournament in Makarska, the quarter-final matches were on the schedule. The most important match for Croatian tennis fans was played by the only remaining Croatian representative, Petra Martić. In a tense duel against the talented Australian Maya Joint, she played a marathon match that ended with the victory of our tennis player with a score of 6:4, 6:7, 7:6.

The defending champion from Egypt, Mayar Sherif, easily defeated Nao Hibino from Japan with a score of 6:1, 6:3.

“A very difficult match. I’m enjoying Makarska, I haven’t played in Croatia for the last eight years, so I definitely felt nervous before my arrival along with enthusiasm. My family members were watching me and I have a lot of fans here, so in a way I wanted to play for all of them, which may have disturbed my focus at times, especially today. But fighting spirit got me through together with experience and I’m glad that I will perform tomorrow as well”, Petra Martić said immediately after the victory.

We asked her what she expects from the semi-finals.

“That match is very far away for me. I just spent three hours on the field and I need some rest. I think Sherif is waiting for me, I’m not sure, definitely a tough match. “She got me two weeks ago, so the pressure is finally on her, not on me, and I will enjoy myself tomorrow,” said Martić.

Let’s mention that Tena Lukas and Kristina Mladenović lost to Hibino and Kalashnikova in the doubles semi-final.
